R n B is currently on a very slow pace due to few involvements as compared to Hip life and Hip-hop, and has led to the genre being sidelined by most award concerts in the country. WORTHY WINNER: A NIGHT SARKODIE MADE HISTORY BACK TO BACK @ THE VGMA 2012

The Temanian: 'Obidiponbidi' SARKODIE
I am going to do this here and now as an individual who baring his thoughts straight up. This has got nothing to do with dem say-dem say, because if I was the only one who went to see history being made then I for don die with insults na, but the whole world follow me see. Before I continue, I must quickly quote Roy P. Basler who once said, ‘To know the truth of history is to realize its ultimate myth and its inevitable ambiguity.’
It was dubbed the biggest and most significant annual entertainment event in Ghana. Organized by the leading event management firm, Charterhouse in collaboration with the leading telecommunication network, Vodafone, the night was without petty flaws, which event for dis world no get comma; but it was an event that came on point. From the red carpet to the MC’s ‘ambulance skims’, to the stage to the audience, to the ambience, to the performers (from the Choc Boiz who killed it off, Buk Bak were sweet, Kwaw Kese brought his Champagnes inside a wheelbarrow, 4x4 were fantastic, any yes turned Pastor Lord Kenya rocked cutely with his gospels) and to the winners – it was truly a Recharged Night!
When it was time for the nominees to be awarded, one name kept beeping my mind – Obidiponbidi. That is the name that everyone started the year with for his Azonto crooning (see http://yemilog.blogspot.com/2011/12/in-2011-between-azonto-dance-madness.html). If anyone or force was against the ‘Rapperholic’ dude, then I summon you to check http://yemilog.blogspot.com/2011/12/when-rapper-goes-holic-on-sunday-25th.html, then you will understand what I am talking about – the boy good jooor!
For the records, the man Sarkodie led the pack of nominees for the 2012 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with 12 nominations including 3 in the Best Collaboration of the Year category for ‘Sweetio’ with Raquel, ‘U Go Kill Me’ featuring EL and ‘I’m in Love With You’ featuring Efya; songwriter of the year, Artist of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year and Album of the year. And the good news is that he has made history back to back as the Artist of the Year in Ghana for 2012!
Sarkodie talking to Press a day before the VGMA 2012
SARKODIE isn’t just a history maker or breaker, in his field, he is a genius!
Just as Oscar Wilde once said and I key into that line, ‘(A)ny fool can make history, but it takes a genius to write it.’ The ‘Temania’ as he calls himself has written yet again another history. See you in 2013 with a triplet bang as impossibility is nothing.

AMA K. ABEBRESE…Living Good, Doing Good

For everyone who have come across Ama K. Abebrese will agree with me that she is just one happy-go-lucky girl who will give her all to achievement as well as put that glimpse of smile on your face. Simple, she loves to be happy.
When I first had the chance of interviewing her then about a year ago at the press launch of the movie Sinking Sands (a movie that won her the Best Actress Award at the 7th annual African Movie Academy Awards amidst the duo of Genevieve Nnaji and Omoni Oboli), I was given just ten minutes or there about, yet I felt I had had the whole years to myself talking to one brilliance of nature. Fast forward a year later, this time I was seated right in front of the same lady for close to half-an-hour but this time, the discussion was more relaxed, fun and even my heart was at joy because ‘yes, it’s another feat talking to a young personality who is achieving her dreams’, this was what I murmured inside of me before I dashed my first question out.
Time check, it was exactly midday and venue was right in her office right in the premises of Viasat 1 in the Labone area of Accra and trust me that the sun was scorching friendly but that never ran us (my camera man & I) down. ‘This is what we are talking about. You have done well for yourself’, was what I eavesdrop on my camera man and Ama during their exchange of pleasantries. From her tender age till date, she had a dream and thus the dreamer is alive to see the fulfillment of the dreams. She loves her family so much that she never ended a full sentence without reminding me that, ‘I owe it all to my wonderful family’. At a point in time during the interview, I paused and tried picturing what her family as a whole looks likes then she caught me there and then told me that ‘we are one big happy family. We keep in touch every tick of the clock’.
Before I ended the whole question and answer thing probably I wish you were here to tell who was interviewing who because Ama is just a sweetheart who loves to know about what goes around her but not withstanding, I churned out what acting is to her and on her AMAA awards which she came out tops, and recently has been nominated again and stands the chance of picking it again - what's the feeling like?
She shed more light on what life is like producing for Viasat 1 and then she was very creative in telling me what her new year resolution is, lucky me I should say. We couldn’t have ended the day without an encouragement or two for young people across Africa at large from the lady who told me that the ‘K’ in her name stands for ‘Konadu’. ‘Are you related to the former first lady?’ I quickly asked, no pun intended though…
